House Republican Leadership in consultation with the Trump Administration decided to pull the American Health Care Act (AHCA), minutes before the House of Representatives was set to vote on the legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Unable to bridge the divide between the more conservative and moderate wings of the party, Republicans must now make decisions as to whether to proceed with comprehensive health care reform or take a piecemeal approach, while also attending to other key health care legislative priorities.

Legislation to recognize pharmacists as providers of care in the Medicare Part B program was recently re-introduced in Congress. The legislation, which would expand patient access to quality health care services in medically underserved and health care professional shortage areas has broad bipartisan and bicameral support with over 100 cosponsors in the House of Representatives and nearly 30 in the Senate.
