On Wednesday, July 25th, the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee unanimously passed a bipartisan bill to ban gag clauses in exchange and private health insurance plans. S. 2554 - The Patient Right to Know Drug Prices Act is led by Senators Collins (R-ME), McCaskill (D-MO), Stabenow (D-MI), Barrasso (R-WY) and Cassidy (R-LA). The full Senate still needs to consider and pass the legislation for it to move forward. Champions of similar legislation in the House are equally as committed to moving this important policy forward. We anticipate additional action on gag clauses as one of the first legislative measures to address drug pricing.
