Good Neighbor Pharmacy and AmerisourceBergen Encourage Congress to Enact Policies that Further Enable Pharmacists to Help with COVID-19 Response

Apr 02, 2020

On March 26th, Good Neighbor Pharmacy and AmerisourceBergen leaders Rich Tremonte and Brian Nightengale sent a letter to bipartisan Congressional leadership urging Congress to consider policy measures to enable pharmacies to be part of COVID-19 response efforts.  Please read the letter here which includes several policies Good Neighbor Pharmacy urges Congress to pass immediately, including giving pharmacists the ability to provide services under Medicare Part B to respond to COVID-19, provide COVID-19 testing and immunizations (once an immunization is available), and immediate suspension of DIR fees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because community pharmacists are on the frontlines of patient care, they can play a significant role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The AmerisourceBergen Government Affairs team is in frequent communication with federal and state lawmakers, and we will continue to communicate to the Administration and lawmakers that pharmacies are well-positioned to play an integral role in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
