Although availability is limited and regulated by federal and state bodies at this time, COVID-19 vaccines are creating much optimism for the future of health. We also look forward with great anticipation to supporting our independent community pharmacy customers’ access to a vaccine in phase two of the CDC’s distribution process and through the Federal Pharmacy Partnership for COVID-19 Vaccination.
On January 4, 2021, a CBS News broadcast highlighted the important patient care provided by community pharmacists to help combat the COVID-19 Pandemic, including efforts taken by Steve Hoffart, owner of a Good Neighbor Pharmacy in Magnolia, TX.
Hoffart, who came back home to his 2,000 plus resident hometown of Magnolia, Texas to own and operate Magnolia Pharmacy, is administering 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine to Magnolia residents, many of whom are at risk for potential complications associated with COVID-19. Steve, like many other independent pharmacists, fills a critical role in his community serving patients who would otherwise have much more limited access to the medications they need, including the COVID-19 vaccine. The video shows Hoffart saying that providing the vaccine is like the “Super Bowl” and his commitment to his patients and community is apparent.
AmerisourceBergen and Good Neighbor Pharmacy would like to thank Steve and all our Good Neighbor Pharmacy community pharmacists in both rural and urban areas for the critical care they provide every day to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of healthcare to their communities and neighbors, including the administration of approved vaccines to immunize against COVID-19.
